The objective of the Society is "to advance and disseminate knowledge and information concerning the art and science of spectroscopy and other allied sciences." The NY/NJ section covers areas in both states and even some of CT. We hold monthly meetings to hear presentations on spectroscopy and to network with each other. The advantages of having face-to-face meetings include the additional information and insights the experts in the audience can share. The value of the networking and making friends includes getting help solving our work problems and getting new ideas. We annually give out student awards and the Gold Medal Award for great work in spectroscopy. The Gold Medal Award this year at EAS is for Prof. Richard Van Duyne and the session is Monday.
